MICROPLASTIC SAMPLING SYSTEMS
FLOW-THROUGH SAMPLING
Our flow-through microplastic sampling systems can be installed to seawater intake on research vessels and ferryboxes. Unattended operation and the ability to use existing water infrastructure makes it a cost-effective alternative to surface sampling nets.
AUTONOMOUS OPERATION
Starting and stopping sampling is as easy as pressing a button on the flow meter and opening a valve. It can also be integrated to our ferryboxes or to a third-party system to trigger sampling automatically, based on time or GPS coordinate. Optional machine-readable flow meter allows to automatically sample a specified amount of water
COMPARISON TO MANTA NETS
Advantages
Lower risk of contamination
Weather-independent operation
No speed limitations for vessels
More reliable sampled water volume measurements
Unsupervised operation reduces sampling costs
Disadvantages
Sampling depth is restricted to the ship’s water intake depth
Requires more effort for initial installation on vessels
Sensitive to large amounts of biological material
